Job Overview:
A prominent law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking a Junior Associate with 2 to 3 years of post-JD experience to join its cutting-edge Technology Transactions practice. This role is ideal for candidates who have either prior experience with sophisticated commercial technology contracts or a background in corporate transactional work and a strong interest in pivoting toward technology-focused legal work. The position offers a dynamic opportunity to engage with complex technology, IP, and data-related matters alongside a collaborative legal team.

Duties:

• Draft and negotiate high-value commercial contracts related to technology, software, and data assets

• Support transactions involving IT outsourcing, ERP system implementation, SaaS agreements, software licensing, and similar tech-related services

• Provide legal counsel on intellectual property and data privacy issues within commercial transactions

• Collaborate with corporate and IP colleagues on M&A, licensing, and finance-related projects

• Analyze legal risks and communicate recommendations clearly to internal stakeholders and clients

• Engage with matters involving emerging technologies such as AI and quantum computing

• Participate in in-office collaboration at least three days per week

Requirements:

• 2-3 years of relevant legal experience, preferably at a large or mid-sized law firm

• Background in either technology transactions or corporate transactional matters with an interest in technology law

• Licensed to practice in Illinois (or willing to sit for the bar or waive in)

• Admitted to the bar in Georgia, Texas, or Massachusetts may also be acceptable if the candidate resides in another approved firm office location

• Ability to manage multiple priorities with precision and professionalism

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active Bar membership in Illinois required; additional admissions in GA, MA, or TX are a plus

Skills:

• Strong drafting and negotiation abilities

• Excellent analytical and verbal/written communication skills

• Deep familiarity with technology law, privacy, and intellectual property

• Adaptable and able to work independently as well as collaboratively

• Proactive mindset with strong attention to detail
