Job Title: Litigation Associate Attorney

Job Location: Washington, DC

Job Overview:
A prominent law firm based in Washington, D.C., is seeking a skilled and motivated Litigation Associate Attorney to join their dynamic team. This firm specializes in federal employment, government affairs, and civil litigation, providing representation to individuals and federal agencies. The firm handles complex employment disputes, investigations, and security clearance proceedings, with a strong focus on handling sensitive and high-profile matters. The ideal candidate will be a proactive attorney with litigation experience and a keen interest in working with government-related cases.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in federal district and appellate courts, as well as before federal administrative agencies.
  • Handle a range of civil and administrative litigation matters, including employment disputes, investigations, security clearance proceedings, and attorney disciplinary actions.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain relationships with clients, offering practical legal advice and guidance.
  • Conduct in-depth investigations, including those related to workplace issues and personnel matters.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment to address complex legal challenges.
  • Analyze and interpret novel statutory and constitutional issues.
  • Report directly to a Partner Attorney and work alongside a team of experienced professionals.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of litigation experience, preferably within a law firm, the Department of Justice (DOJ), or similar environment.
  • Strong background in litigation, with experience in trial preparation, motions practice, and client counseling.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting investigations in a legal context.
  • Ability to build and maintain client relationships and effectively communicate complex legal issues.
  • A strong interest in government-related work.
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to working as part of a team.
  • Sound business acumen and an understanding of the dynamics of a law firm environment.
  • Active DC Bar membership or eligibility for waiver.
  • Judicial clerkship experience is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • DC Bar license (or eligibility to waive in).
