Job Overview:
A leading law firm is seeking a skilled Trademark Associate with 3 to 7 years of experience to join its Intellectual Property team. The role involves handling all aspects of trademark and copyright law, including prosecution, enforcement, portfolio management, and litigation support. The successful candidate will work closely with clients across multiple industries to provide strategic advice on domestic and international IP matters.

Location:

  • Rochester, NY

Duties:

  • Assist with trademark and copyright matters across a variety of business sectors

  • Conduct trademark clearance searches and prepare risk assessments

  • Manage prosecution, maintenance, and enforcement of U.S. and international trademark portfolios

  • Prepare and file applications and responses with the USPTO

  • Counsel clients on brand protection strategies and complex legal issues

  • Support litigation efforts in trademark and copyright disputes

  • Draft and review cease-and-desist letters, settlement agreements, and licensing contracts

  • Collaborate with attorneys in other practice areas to deliver integrated legal services

Requirements:

  • 3 to 7 years of experience in trademark and copyright law

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple client portfolios and deadlines

  • Proficiency in handling U.S. and international filings and procedures

  • Familiarity with enforcement and administrative proceedings before the USPTO

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

  • Admission in New York or New Jersey preferred, depending on office location

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and analytical capabilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
