Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Matrimonial/Family Law Associate Attorney in Lake Success, NY. The firm is expanding its Matrimonial Department and is looking for an associate with 1-3 years of experience. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with strong organizational skills and excellent oral communication abilities, ready to work in a collaborative environment.

Duties

  • Prepare pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and briefs.
  • Assist with preparations for depositions and trials.
  • Appear in court in Nassau and Suffolk Counties and New York City boroughs.
  • Assist with cases at every stage of the litigation cycle.
  • Communicate with clients and review new files for coverage.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop litigation strategies.
  • Organize and track case statuses and handle pre-trial court appearances.
  • Represent clients in divorce, custody, child support, and other family matters.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Admittance to the NY Bar.
  • Superb writing skills.
  • Great organization and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work tasks effectively.
  • Collaborative skills with a can-do attitude.
  • Comfort working with all levels of business professionals.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, and Outlook; Litify or similar platform is a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor degree (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admittance to the NY Bar.
