Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Intake Attorney for its Immigration practice in Los Angeles, CA. This role serves as the first point of contact for potential clients, requiring experience in Immigration Law and proficiency in conducting intakes. The position involves overseeing an intake team and collaborating with the Immigration team, providing an excellent opportunity for career advancement.

Duties

  • Meet with potential clients for strategic immigration consultations.
  • Supervise intake paralegals and contract preparers.
  • Communicate relevant information to the Intake Committee.
  • Review and assign new business intake.
  • Assist with recruiting and hiring for the legal intake department.
  • Explain immigration concepts and present solutions to clients and staff.
  • Inform clients about diverse immigration applications.
  • Review immigration applications and make necessary adjustments.
  • Develop strategy and prepare clients for court/USCIS testimony.
  • Conduct research and provide legal analysis for clients.
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.

Requirements

  • At least 3-5 years of Immigration Law experience.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish with full proficiency.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Supervisory skills preferred.
  • Sales experience or background is a plus.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and move legal cases forward.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian, removal defense, Citizenship, and USCIS applications.
  • Experience with Case Management Software preferred.
  • Ability to escalate issues and present solutions to management.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.

Certifications

  • Bar admission in the state of California.

Skills

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in legal research and writing.
