Duties

  • Attend meetings with city officials to discuss legal issues.
  • Draft contracts, real estate documents, ordinances, and resolutions.

  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda and opinions.
  • Travel to cities for court and meetings.
  • Handle municipal court prosecutions and conduct pre-trial hearings.
  • Prepare and defend against court motions and requests.
  • Train police officers and city employees on courtroom skills.
  • Respond to Texas Public Information Act requests.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
  • Valid Texas driver's license and car insurance.
  • No arrests in the past five years.
  • Experience with a district attorney's office, municipal court, or city attorney's office preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed with the State Bar of Texas.

Skills

  • Knowledge of criminal law, administrative law, and Texas Government Code.
  • Understanding of civil and criminal procedures and rules of evidence.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships.
