Duties

  • Provide legal counsel on estate planning, trust administration, and related tax and business planning strategies

  • Draft wills, trusts, and other estate planning documents tailored to client needs

  • Collaborate on the administration of estates and trusts, including high-value and complex matters

  • Participate in the development of proposed trust and estate legislation

  • Engage with professional organizations in the trusts and estates legal community

  • Serve clients throughout Alaska and non-residents utilizing Alaska's favorable estate planning laws

  • Maintain high standards of accuracy and detail in all phases of client representation

Requirements

  • Substantial legal experience in estate planning, tax, trusts, or related fields

  • Experience in either public or private sector legal practice with transferable skills

  • Commitment to accuracy and excellence in all work

  • Interest in engaging with legal reform and policy in estate and trust law

  • Ability to manage client relationships with discretion and professionalism

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

  • Willingness to obtain Alaska bar admission if not already licensed in the state

Skills

  • Strong legal drafting and analytical skills

  • Deep attention to detail and accuracy
