Job Overview:
A Houston-based law firm is seeking a motivated Litigation Attorney with 1–2 years of experience to join its growing legal team. This opportunity is ideal for an early-career attorney looking to handle complex commercial litigation in the real estate, construction, hospitality, and insurance sectors. The role involves managing cases independently while collaborating with a seasoned legal team and engaging directly with clients.

Location:

  • Houston, Texas

Duties:

  • Manage a caseload of commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution

  • Draft, review, and argue dispositive motions, pleadings, and substantive legal documents

  • Take and defend depositions of parties, experts, and witnesses

  • Conduct thorough legal research and case law analysis

  • Attend court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials as needed

  • Provide legal advice and strategic updates to clients throughout the litigation process

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on case strategy and trial preparation

  • Work with expert witnesses and opposing counsel through all phases of litigation

  • Handle all aspects of the discovery process, including drafting and responding to discovery

  • Maintain accurate and organized case files, ensuring compliance with deadlines

Requirements:

  • 1–2 years of litigation experience in a law firm setting

  • Experience handling commercial litigation matters preferred

  • Ability to independently manage a heavy caseload with minimal supervision

  • Strong communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills

  • Proficient in case management and legal writing

  • Highly detail-oriented and capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Texas

Skills:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Skilled in using legal research platforms such as Westlaw or LexisNexis

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Organized, self-motivated, and deadline-driven
