A law firm seeks a Senior Associate Attorney in Elizabethtown, NY, to represent clients in complex family and matrimonial matters. The role demands a compassionate yet assertive advocate with exceptional communication skills to navigate emotionally charged situations professionally.

Duties

  • Represent clients in family law matters, including agreements, divorce, custody, and support proceedings.
  • Conduct investigations, discovery, negotiations, motion advocacy, and trials.
  • Develop and execute legal strategies for optimal client outcomes.
  • Serve as the primary client contact, providing clear communication and legal advice.
  • Draft and review legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and agreements.
  • Oversee and mentor associates and paralegals, fostering professional growth.
  • Utilize firm resources for timely and efficient case management.
  • Stay current on family and matrimonial law developments and CLE requirements.
  • Maintain accurate time entries and case documentation.

Requirements

  • Admission to the New York State Bar and in good standing.
  • Minimum of 5 years of family law experience, including at least 10 trials.
  • Certified Divorce Specialist or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Completion or willingness to complete mediation or Collaborative Divorce training.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Certified Divorce Specialist or willingness to obtain.

Skills

  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and courtroom skills.
  • Strong communication and client relationship abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Westlaw/LexisNexis, and Google Workspace.
  • Familiarity with CLIO Grow, CLIO Manage, and Family Law Software preferred.
