Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney in Los Angeles to join their dynamic legal team. The successful candidate will handle a variety of legal tasks, including preparing for trials and negotiating settlements, while providing exceptional client service.

Duties

  • Draft and prepare briefs, settlement offers, and various motions.
  • Take and defend depositions from witnesses, parties, and experts.
  • Correspond with clients and opposing counsel.
  • Interview clients to understand case details and develop strategies.
  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients.
  • Prepare cases for trial by interviewing witnesses and acquiring evidence.
  • Assist clients in preparing for mediation sessions or settlement conferences.
  • Educate clients about their legal rights and responsibilities.
  • Prepare and file court documents such as complaints or motions.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings.

Requirements

  • Licensed and in good standing with the California State Bar.
  • At least 3 years of experience in general liability or personal injury.
  • Trial experience is a plus.
  • Ability to negotiate favorable and cost-effective settlements.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize a large and complex caseload.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Empathetic and emotionally intelligent.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in California.
