Job Overview

A law firm seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Appellate & Motion Practice Attorney in Rocky Hill, CT. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in appellate matters, complex motion practice, or related litigation support work. This role requires strong communication skills, a polished writing style, and the ability to manage assignments independently.

Duties

  • Draft and edit appellate briefs, motions, and memoranda of law.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and develop persuasive arguments.
  • Review trial records and evidentiary materials to identify appealable issues.
  • Prepare motions to dismiss and motions for summary judgment.
  • Assist trial teams with pre-trial and post-trial motions.
  • Manage deadlines and procedural requirements across jurisdictions.
  • Participate in oral arguments and support senior attorneys.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and adhere to guidelines.
  • Record and maintain billable hours accurately.

Requirements

  • Admission to practice in the State of New York is required.
  • Federal Court and appellate court experience preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in appellate work or motion practice.
  • Exceptional writing, research, and analytical skills.
  • Experience drafting substantive motions and briefs.
  • Trial or litigation support experience is a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the State Bar of New York.
