Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney in Missouri City, TX. The role involves significant case review responsibilities, ensuring the quality of work produced by the legal department. Duties

  • Review consultation notes and confirm case legal strategy.
  • Conduct detailed final case reviews of client petitions.
  • Communicate with the legal team to resolve legal questions.
  • Attend USCIS interviews and represent clients in removal proceedings nationwide.
  • Prepare legal documents, including briefs, motions, pleadings, and appeals.
  • Stay informed on changes to immigration laws and update the firm and clients as necessary.
  • Meet with clients to address questions and concerns.
  • Analyze information for emergency motions.
  • Develop and implement process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in Texas and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
  • 2-3 years of immigration law experience preferred; open to new attorneys with a passion for immigration law.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, particularly immigrants and marginalized communities.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. immigration laws, regulations, and court procedures.
  • Proficient in legal research and writing.
  • Effective oral advocacy skills for court hearings and client meetings.
  • Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with immigration case management software.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, capable of managing multiple deadlines.
  • Collaborative team player in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel for court hearings and USCIS interviews as needed.
  • Commitment to client-centered advocacy and professional excellence.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Texas.
