Job Overview

A law firm seeks a mid-level associate with four to six years of experience to join its Restructuring practice group in Washington, D.C. The ideal candidate will have experience in large transactions with a major law firm and possess both litigation and transactional skills.

Duties

  • Represent debtors, creditors' and ad hoc committees, and asset acquirers.
  • Engage with unsecured creditors' committees, restructuring support agreements, DIPs, reorganization plans, and exit facilities.
  • Research and draft pleadings and briefs with a high level of familiarity with the Bankruptcy Code and Rules.
  • Collaborate on restructuring transactions with an understanding of accounting and financial issues.

Requirements

  • At least four years of restructuring experience with a major law firm.
  • Strong academic credentials and excellent legal research skills.
  • Superb writing and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team player.
  • Admission to the Washington, D.C. Bar or ability to waive in.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.

Certifications

  • Admission to the Washington, D.C. Bar.

Skills

  • Litigation and transactional skills.
  • Understanding of accounting and financial issues in restructuring.
  • Ability to draft complex legal documents.
