Job Overview

A law firm seeks a junior associate to join its Intellectual Property Department in San Francisco. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of IP litigation experience and a passion for working on innovative intellectual property matters in a collaborative setting.

Duties

  • Engage in all aspects of litigation from pre-suit investigation through trial and appeal.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including complaints, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Research legal and technical issues related to patent claims, prior art, and infringement and invalidity issues.
  • Support depositions, hearings, expert reports, and trials.
  • Coordinate with clients, experts, and internal teams to develop case strategies.
  • Assist with patent drafting, prosecution, and strategy.

Requirements

  • Admitted to practice in California or another U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Licensed to practice before the USPTO or qualified to sit for the patent bar.

Education

  • Law degree from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
  • Degree in a technical engineering or science field such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice before the USPTO or qualified to sit for the patent bar.

Skills

  • Strong writing and oral communication skills.
  • Experience coordinating with clients, experts, and internal teams.
