Job Overview

A law firm seeks an admitted Immigration Attorney for a promising Associate position in San Juan, PR. This role offers significant growth potential and the opportunity to gain valuable experience in immigration law. The attorney will manage their caseload, interact with clients, and collaborate with a team of attorneys and legal assistants.

Duties

  • Develop strategy and prepare clients/witnesses for court/USCIS testimony.
  • Represent individuals in removal proceedings at Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a workload of diverse immigration cases.
  • Conduct intake with detained individuals at centers.
  • Prepare immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Review and adjust immigration applications/packets as needed.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and community organizations on immigration law changes.
  • Conduct strategic immigration consultations with potential clients.
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.

Requirements

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in Immigration Law.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and move legal cases forward.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian, EOIR, Detained, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Experience with Case Management Software preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Admitted to practice law.

Skills

  • Strong legal analysis and strategic planning skills.
  • Excellent communication and client interaction abilities.
  • Proficiency in preparing legal documents and briefs.
