Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly motivated senior-level associate or special counsel in Washington, DC, with a strong background in compliance with international trade laws, export controls, and sanctions regulations. The role involves ensuring compliance with applicable laws and fostering ethical business practices. Ideal candidates will have at least 7 years of experience advising clients in export controls and sanctions laws.

Duties

  • Provide expert legal advice on export controls and sanctions regulations, including ITAR, EAR, and OFAC regulations.
  • Monitor, analyze, and counsel clients on changes in regulations affecting export controls and sanctions.
  • Develop and update compliance policies and training programs for employees.
  • Manage complex investigations related to potential violations of U.S. export control and sanctions laws.
  • Conduct risk assessments and compliance audits related to export controls and sanctions.
  • Liaise with government agencies and regulatory bodies on compliance matters.
  • Support multi-national clients with solutions to complex, cross-border matters involving U.S. export controls and sanctions compliance.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical abilities.
  • Excellent client-relation skills and comfort working with diverse clients.
  • Proven ability to organize, oversee, and prioritize multiple assignments and projects simultaneously.

Education

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school with top academic credentials.

Certifications

  • Bar admission in the attorney's resident and/or affiliated office.
