Nashville office seeks patent agent with 1+ years of experience in preparing and prosecuting patents. The candidate will serve in the patent prosecution and counseling practice. Will work closely with various client teams on all aspects of U.S. and foreign prosecution and counseling. Primary responsibilities of the position include developing and implementing patent filing strategies, conducting interviews with clients to obtain invention disclosures and preparing patent applications under the supervision of a patent attorney. Analyze Patent Office actions and prepare responses under the supervision of a patent attorney, conduct interviews with Patent Office examiners and other patent prosecution-related activity; as well as assist in formulating and preparing infringement and validity opinions, working on patent post-grant proceedings, assist in patent and other litigation, and support intellectual property licensing and other transactions while following the ethical requirements as set forth by the Firm's professional liability insurer. Should have experience in semiconductor manufacturing and processing, complex optics, optical metrology, photolithography systems, computational lithography, process control metrology and inspection systems, photomask design, and/or integrated circuit design software. Must have a background in electrical or mechanical engineering or in physics.
