Don't Worry Too Much When Asked To Prepare Reasoning On Legal Issues
[00:00:00] I was just notified by an employer to, "be prepared to reason through a legal issue", in an interview I have coming. Do you have any idea what that could mean? I'm a rising 2L if that helps. I generally know nothing. I'm very nervous.
I don't think there's any reason to be nervous about that question.
I think they want to ask you a legal question and maybe ask what, your opinion is. I don't, it's no different than riding a law school exam, which is, issue spotting and that sort of thing.
So whatever the legal issue is, figuring out what the issue is, and then the facts that go along with it and then reaching a conclusion. I don't think. You really need to worry about that. It's no different than law school exams. And yeah, I don't know why they would do that but I wouldn't worry about it.
By the way, law firms try to use different forms of information or they want to make interviewing feel like you had to work very hard to get the job or something.
I wouldn't worry too much about that question at all.
The big thing though is just to be very careful, not to be too over the top, but it's just a dumb thing because it takes a long time to learn how to [00:01:00] practice law probably five years after you get out of law school. There's no reason for that, really.
