Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking an experienced Medical Malpractice Defense Attorney with 2-5 years of experience in handling medical malpractice cases or a relevant medical background. The ideal candidate will have strong academic credentials, excellent research and writing skills, and the ability to work independently. This position offers compensation commensurate with experience and the opportunity to handle high-stakes defense cases in the medical malpractice field.

Location:

  • Maryland (Additional jurisdiction experience in D.C. or Virginia is a plus).

Duties:

  • Represent clients in medical malpractice defense cases.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare detailed legal briefs and motions.
  • Handle depositions, discovery, and trial preparation.
  • Work independently and manage case files with minimal supervision.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients to develop defense strategies.
  • Provide timely updates to clients regarding case progress.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of experience in medical malpractice defense or a related medical field.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively.
  • Admission to the Maryland Bar is required.
  • Admission to D.C. and/or Virginia Bar is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Maryland (required).
  • D.C. and/or Virginia Bar admission is a plus.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to handle complex legal matters with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of medical malpractice laws and regulations.
