Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking a highly skilled Senior Associate to join its Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Patent Prosecution Practice Group. The successful candidate should have excellent academic credentials, strong law firm experience, and outstanding writing and communication skills. The role involves managing patent preparation and prosecution for a wide range of clients, focusing on electrical engineering and software-related technologies.

Location:

  • San Francisco, CA

Duties:

  • Drafting and filing high-quality patent applications.

  • Ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of submissions.

  • Managing patent preparation and prosecution processes for clients.

  • Overseeing patent portfolios in the electrical engineering and software technologies sectors.

  • Supervising and mentoring associates to support their professional growth.

  • Drafting and prosecuting patent applications related to advanced technologies such as GPUs, TPUs, accelerators, neural engines, and robotics.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of six years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.

  • Strong technical background with an undergraduate or advanced degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, software engineering, computer science, or physics.

  • Proven ability to draft and prosecute patent applications related to complex technologies.

  • Strong understanding of patent law and USPTO procedures.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.

Education:

  • JD from an accredited law school.

  • Undergraduate (and graduate, if applicable) degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field.

Certifications:

  • Active bar admission in the jurisdiction where the candidate intends to practice.

  • Admission to the USPTO required.

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proven track record of managing and prosecuting patent applications.

  • Experience in supervising and mentoring junior associates.

  • In-depth knowledge of intellectual property and patent laws.
