Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Innovation Counsel in Santa Monica to join their Practice Innovation team. This role involves advancing practice-specific initiatives to maximize the value of innovation technologies and practices. The position requires collaboration with practice group leadership and other teams to drive best practices in leveraging legal technology.

Duties

• Support legal technology adoption initiatives impacting practice groups.
• Design playbooks for best practices in innovation technologies.
• Organize presentations, status reports, and executive briefings.
• Collaborate on initiative prioritization and evangelize its value.
• Develop objectives and success metrics for technology adoption.
• Analyze practice group workflows to identify improvement areas.
• Drive legal technology pilots and continuous improvements.
• Assist in developing communication campaigns for change management.
• Maintain practice group-specific resources and automate efforts.

Requirements

• 4+ years of applicable experience in legal practice or technology adoption.
• Active bar membership or registered in-house counsel status.
• Experience in cross-functional projects involving legal technology.
• Understanding of large law firm financial and work allocation processes.

Education

• Juris Doctor or non-US equivalent.

Certifications

• Active member in good standing of the bar(s) in applicable jurisdictions.

Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and firm applications.
• Ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
• Strong presentation and communication skills.
• Experience with distributed systems and core large law technologies.
• Ability to leverage data for insights and storytelling.
