Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is currently seeking a talented and experienced Associate Attorney to join its Patent Prosecution & Litigation Practice Group. This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge patent matters related to electrical engineering and software. The role involves handling both patent prosecution and litigation within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Duties:

  • Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications focusing on electrical engineering and software technologies.
  • Represent clients in patent litigation, providing strategic advice and support.
  • Conduct legal research, prepare briefs, and manage complex patent portfolios.
  • Advise clients on IP matters related to patent infringement and enforcement.
  • Communicate with clients to assess their needs and provide legal guidance.
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team of professionals to deliver high-quality services.
  • Support business development efforts and client relationship management.

Requirements:

  • A strong background in intellectual property law with a focus on patent prosecution and litigation.
  • Experience in electrical engineering, Mechanical, or a similar technical field.
  • Hands-on experience in patent prosecution, including drafting applications and responding to office actions.
  • Proven experience in patent litigation, including preparation for trial and settlement negotiations.
  • Admitted to practice before the USPTO; admission to the California State Bar is preferred.
  • 3-6  years of patent prosecution experience, including application drafting.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal and technical issues effectively.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.

Education:

  • A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • A technical degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical, or a closely related field is strongly preferred.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Admission to the California Bar is preferred.

Skills:

  • Expertise in patent law and prosecution strategies.
  • Knowledge of patent litigation procedures and strategies.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a diverse workload.
  • Strong technical background in electrical engineering, Mechanical, or a similar discipline.
  • Proven ability to handle complex IP matters with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
