Litigation Associate Attorney

A law firm seeks a motivated and skilled Litigation Associate Attorney to join its growing litigation practice in Kansas City, Missouri. This position focuses on insurance defense and personal injury defense litigation. The ideal candidate will have 2 to 4 years of experience, be licensed to practice law in Missouri and Kansas, and possess strong analytical, communication, and writing skills. This role offers the opportunity for significant client interaction and requires the ability to manage cases from inception to trial. Duties:

• Manage and represent clients in insurance defense and personal injury defense cases.
• Handle cases from initial intake through trial, providing legal strategies and recommendations.
• Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
• Conduct legal research and prepare written briefs and memoranda.
• Engage in depositions, hearings, and trial preparation.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and expert witnesses.
• Maintain detailed case files and track progress in alignment with client objectives.
• Meet billable hour requirements and contribute to the firm’s overall performance.

Requirements:

• 2 to 4 years of litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense or personal injury defense.
• Must be licensed to practice law in Missouri and Kansas.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and handle a case from start to finish.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
• Comfort with client-facing interactions and presenting cases in court.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active membership in the Missouri State Bar and Kansas State Bar (required).

Skills:

• Expertise in legal research, drafting, and case management.
• Ability to handle complex litigation and manage high-stakes cases.
• Strong oral advocacy and negotiation skills.
