Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Family Immigration Attorney with 3 years of experience to join their team in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload of family-based immigration matters, advocating for individuals and families within the U.S. immigration system. This role is ideal for those with a strong knowledge of immigration law, courtroom advocacy experience, and a passion for client-focused representation.

Duties

  • Represent clients in family-based immigration matters including adjustment of status, consular processing, waivers, VAWA, U-visas, and removal defense
  • Prepare and file applications and petitions with USCIS, EOIR, NVC, and other agencies
  • Attend immigration interviews, bond hearings, and removal proceedings
  • Draft legal briefs, motions, and affidavits
  • Conduct legal research and develop case strategies
  • Maintain accurate case records and client communications
  • Provide legal counsel to clients regarding immigration options and case status
  • Stay current with changes in immigration laws and policies

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience practicing immigration law, specifically in family-based cases
  • Prior experience with removal defense and court appearances preferred
  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload independently
  • Strong understanding of current U.S. immigration laws and procedures
  • Bilingual proficiency (Spanish or Creole) is highly desirable

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction
  • Member in good standing with the applicable State Bar

Skills

  • Excellent legal research, writing, and advocacy skills
  • Strong interpersonal and client communication abilities
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency with case management and immigration software
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, client-centered environment
