Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Litigation Attorney in Newport News, VA. This role involves handling General District Court matters, including contract and real estate disputes, landlord/tenant issues, and general civil litigation. The attorney will also gain exposure to transactional matters such as real estate closings, estate planning, and business matters.

Duties

  • Represent client interests in state courts in Hampton Roads.
  • Draft, edit, and review legal documents.
  • Communicate with clients to understand their legal needs and provide advice.
  • Develop strategies to resolve cases favorably and cost-effectively.
  • Conduct residential real estate closings.
  • Prepare legal documents, such as contracts and estate plans, accurately and timely.
  • Stay informed about current legislation relevant to legal specialties.
  • Find ethical solutions to legal matters.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Virginia Bar or pending bar admission with a third-year practice certificate.
  • Experience or expertise in General District Court preferred; Circuit Court experience is a plus.
