Job Overview:
A well-established, multi-regional law firm is seeking a Family Law Attorney for a hybrid-remote position based near Abilene, Texas. The ideal candidate will be a licensed Texas attorney with a passion for family law and at least two years of consistent employment. This role offers a unique blend of flexibility, meaningful litigation experience, and the opportunity to contribute to a forward-thinking legal team. Candidates must be prepared for court appearances, client interaction, and business development while enjoying a strong work-life balance.

Location:

  • Abilene, TX

Duties:

  • Handle all aspects of family law cases from intake to resolution

  • Represent clients in court and at hearings on a frequent basis

  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and other legal documents

  • Maintain and manage a caseload with approximately 1,500 billable hours annually

  • Engage in legal research and strategic planning for case development

  • Attend occasional evening or weekend professional and social events

  • Participate in lead generation and client development efforts

  • Collaborate with colleagues across multiple practice areas

  • Optional practice in a second legal field (e.g., probate, criminal, personal injury, etc.)

Requirements:

  • Active license to practice law in Texas

  • No felony convictions, moral turpitude misdemeanors, or bar disciplinary actions

  • Minimum of 2 years of continuous experience with one employer in the past 4 years

  • Willingness to relocate within 60 miles of Abilene within 180 days

  • Flexibility to work occasional nights and weekends

  • Commitment to travel as needed (25% travel, reimbursed)

  • Ability to work more than 40 hours per week when necessary

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas

Skills:

  • Courtroom litigation and advocacy

  • Legal research and writing

  • Time management and billable hour tracking

  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities

  • Business development and client retention mindset

  • Bilingual abilities preferred (but not required)

  • Technologically adept and self-motivated in a hybrid environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of family law experience

  • Top 25% law school class ranking

  • Participation in law review or advocacy competitions

  • Fluency in a second language
