Job Overview
A law firm seeks an associate attorney with 1-3 years of experience to join its New York defense practice. This role, based in Downstate New York, offers a dynamic opportunity for a junior attorney to enhance litigation skills in a collaborative environment.

Duties

  • Assist with all phases of New York defense litigation, including discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
  • Draft legal documents such as pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and legal memoranda.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare comprehensive reports and legal analysis.
  • Participate in court conferences, depositions, and hearings as appropriate.
  • Manage deadlines and ensure compliance with client guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate time records and billing entries.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of litigation experience, preferably in a law firm setting.
  • Admission to practice in New York; additional bar admissions in NJ, CT, or PA are a plus.
  • Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills, professionalism, and a demonstrated work ethic.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Federal court or appellate experience is a plus, but not required.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the New York State Bar.
