Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Junior Litigation Attorney with one to four years of experience to join its Asheville, North Carolina office. This role offers an opportunity to develop a sophisticated practice within a collaborative, full-service environment serving clients across the Carolinas and beyond.

Duties

  • Draft pleadings and dispositive motions.
  • Manage written discovery processes.
  • Take and defend depositions as experience allows.
  • Argue motions in state and federal courts.
  • Support trial teams in complex matters.
  • Engage in direct client contact and business development.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis.
  • Prepare witnesses and participate in mediations and hearings.
  • Manage case files and deadlines.
  • Coordinate with clients, experts, and co-counsel.
  • Contribute to trial preparation, including exhibit and witness lists.

Requirements

  • Solid foundation in civil procedure and evidence.
  • Excellent legal writing and oral advocacy skills.
  • Sound judgment under pressure.
  • Experience with business disputes is valued.
  • Experience managing discovery and depositions.
  • Experience appearing in court is strongly valued.

Education

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Good standing with the North Carolina Bar preferred.
  • Active license in another jurisdiction with eligibility for North Carolina transfer considered.
