Job Overview:

A law firm in Denver, CO, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Patent Agent / Technology Specialist with a background in wireless engineering, electrical and computer engineering, or related fields. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of patent prosecution experience, strong academic credentials, and exceptional communication skills. Experience with cellular networking technologies is highly preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, file, and prosecute patent applications, including drafting and amending claims and responding to Office Actions.
  • Conduct prior art searches and analyze patentability, freedom-to-operate, and infringement issues.
  • Collaborate with inventors and technical teams to gather and assess technical information relevant to patent applications.
  • Provide technical expertise and support in the evaluation of patent portfolios.
  • Stay current with technological advancements and industry trends to ensure high-quality patent prosecution and strategy.
  • Prepare and review patent-related documentation, including responses to patent office actions and client communications.
  • Assist in preparing legal opinions and strategies related to patent matters.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple patent projects and deadlines effectively.

Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of experience in patent prosecution.
  • Background in wireless, electrical, and computer engineering or related technical fields.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing patent applications and related processes.
  • Strong academic credentials with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with cellular networking technologies is strongly preferred.
  • M.S. or M.Eng. in a relevant technical field or equivalent industry experience is preferred.

Education:

  • M.S. or M.Eng. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Wireless Engineering, a related field, or equivalent industry experience.

Skills:

  • Expertise in patent prosecution and related legal processes.
  • Strong technical understanding of wireless and cellular networking technologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical information and translate it into patentable ideas.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
