Job Overview

The role involves frequent court appearances, motion arguments, and collaboration with seasoned defense counsel.

Duties

  • Represent clients in misdemeanor and select felony cases from arraignment through trial and sentencing.
  • Conduct legal research and draft motions, pleadings, and discovery requests.
  • Appear regularly in court for hearings, oral arguments, and trial proceedings.
  • Review evidence, police reports, and discovery to identify constitutional or procedural issues.
  • Negotiate plea agreements and alternative dispositions with prosecutors.
  • Assist in preparing for and participating in jury trials.
  • Manage client relationships with professionalism, empathy, and responsiveness.
  • Collaborate with the firm's attorneys to develop defense strategies and case themes.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active member of the Arizona State Bar.
  • 2+ years of experience in criminal defense preferred.
  • Strong courtroom presence and confidence in oral arguments and client advocacy.
  • Interest or experience in jury trials, whether first-chair or supporting role.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines with strong attention to detail.
  • Team-oriented attitude with a commitment to integrity, honesty, and client-first representation.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active member of the Arizona State Bar.
