A law firm seeks an Oil and Gas Title Attorney in Midland, TX. This full-time position requires a detail-oriented professional with expertise in oil and gas law, particularly in New Mexico and West Texas. The role involves collaborating with senior attorneys to deliver precise and timely solutions to clients.

Duties

  • Conduct title examinations to determine ownership of oil and gas properties.
  • Analyze documents such as deeds, leases, and contracts to establish ownership rights.
  • Draft title opinions identifying defects, liens, or issues affecting property ownership.
  • Perform due diligence for oil and gas transactions, including mergers and acquisitions.
  • Provide legal guidance on risks and strategies for mitigating issues in transactions.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate agreements and contracts, ensuring compliance with laws.
  • Stay updated on relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Collaborate with litigation attorneys when legal action is necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to execute complex legal transactions.
  • Meet quarterly billable requirement of 450 hours.
  • Engage in continuous learning opportunities.
  • Support other activities and projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license with at least three years of experience drafting title opinions in New Mexico or Texas.
  • Familiarity with preparing large, unit-wide division order ownerships.
  • Commitment to ethical practice and client confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Passion for professional development and skill enhancement.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize.

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree
