Finance, Bankruptcy & Restructuring Counsel

Job Overview
A law firm seeks a highly motivated Counsel candidate to join its Finance, Bankruptcy & Restructuring Practice Group in Charlotte, NC.

Duties

• Lead the coordination, preparation, review, and management of local counsel opinions.
• Analyze opinion requests and ensure conformity to lender expectations and firm standards.
• Serve as the primary contact for referring counsel, resolving inconsistencies, and negotiating opinion language.
• Partner with deal teams to ensure opinions are accurate and delivered on tight timelines.
• Maintain and apply strong knowledge of opinion practice and enforceability concepts.
• Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing and best practices related to opinion processes.

Requirements

• 3-6 years of relevant experience in equipment finance, asset-based lending, or commercial finance.
• Experience preparing real estate local counsel opinions is preferred, but not required.
• Excellent judgment and meticulous approach to legal analysis and written work.
• Ability to work independently and manage complex opinion workflows.
• Strong communication skills and comfort working across offices and jurisdictions.
• Admitted to practice, or eligible for admission, in the jurisdiction corresponding to the office location.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction.

Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proficiency in managing multiple transactions concurrently.
