Job Title: Immigration Attorney

Job Overview:
A reputable law firm is seeking a skilled Immigration Attorney to join their dynamic legal team in Oakland. This is an exciting opportunity for an attorney who is passionate about defending clients' rights in immigration matters. As part of the team, you will manage a diverse caseload, provide strategic legal advice, represent clients in hearings, and collaborate with a group of dedicated professionals to achieve successful outcomes. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience in immigration law, including familiarity with a variety of processes such as asylum, naturalization, green card adjustments, and more.

Duties:

  • Oversee the work of paralegals and case managers.
  • Conduct legal strategy meetings with new clients.
  • Review and provide feedback on immigration applications.
  • Represent clients in USCIS hearings, removal defense, and interviews.
  • Ensure compliance with firm policies and procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in immigration laws.
  • Collaborate with case managers, paralegals, and attorneys to file cases.
  • Conduct consultations in both English and Spanish (approximately 15-20 per week).
  • Manage team dynamics to ensure quality case preparation and client satisfaction.

Requirements:

  • Fluency in both English and Spanish (reading, writing, and speaking).
  • Must be licensed to practice law and in good standing with the state bar.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in immigration law.
  • Expertise in various immigration processes including asylum, green card adjustments, U-Visas, DACA, and others.
  • Proven ability to manage a team of legal professionals effectively.
  • Strong business development experience within an immigration law setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal software.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to spot inconsistencies and resolve them quickly.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active state Bar certification.

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong legal research and drafting abilities.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and think critically in the courtroom.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
