Job Overview: A law firm specializing in medical malpractice defense is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Associate Attorney to join their team in Baltimore, MD. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare law and litigation, focusing on defending healthcare providers and institutions in medical malpractice cases.

Duties:

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on medical malpractice cases.
  • Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and briefs.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings, including hearings, trials, and mediations.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and partners on case strategy and client communication.
  • Conduct depositions and witness interviews.
  • Manage and prioritize a caseload effectively.

Requirements:

  • Membership in the Maryland Bar is required.
  • Membership in the D.C. and/or Virginia Bar is preferred.
  • Experience in medical malpractice defense or healthcare law.
  • Strong litigation skills, including courtroom experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Maryland Bar.
  • Admission to the D.C. and/or Virginia Bar (preferred).

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents in medical malpractice defense.
  • Ability to analyze complex medical and legal issues.
  • Strong negotiation and advocacy skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic discovery and case management software.
