A law firm in Kalamazoo, MI, is seeking an experienced White Collar Attorney with a substantial background in white collar, civil, and criminal tax controversy matters. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record as a trial lawyer and possess civil and criminal trial and appellate experience in both federal and state courts. Preference will be given to candidates with experience with the IRS Office of Chief Counsel, the US Attorney's Office, and/or the DOJ Tax Division. The role also requires strong business development skills, file management expertise, client supervision capabilities, case leadership abilities, and a commitment to exceptional customer/client service.

Duties:

  • Provide legal representation in white collar, civil, and criminal tax controversy matters.
  • Serve as an advocate for clients in both federal and state courts, with a focus on civil and criminal trial and appellate cases.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in handling a wide range of white collar cases.
  • Develop and maintain a portable book of business with growth potential.
  • Efficiently manage legal files, ensuring accurate documentation and case progression.
  • Supervise and guide client interactions to meet their needs and expectations.
  • Lead legal cases from initiation to resolution, ensuring client satisfaction throughout the process.
  • Deliver exceptional customer/client service to establish and strengthen client relationships.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in white collar, civil, and criminal tax controversy matters.
  • Extensive experience with civil and criminal trial and appellate cases in both federal and state courts.
  • Previous experience as a trial lawyer in the public sector is essential.
  • Familiarity with the IRS Office of Chief Counsel, the US Attorney's Office, and/or the DOJ Tax Division is preferred.
  • Admission to the Michigan Bar is a mandatory requirement.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • A strong academic record and relevant coursework in white collar and tax law are advantageous.

Certifications:

  • Must be a licensed attorney with admission to the Michigan Bar.
