Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Evictions Litigation Attorney to join their team in Long Beach, CA. The attorney will manage a caseload across California, with potential involvement in Oregon and Washington. The ideal candidate has over five years of experience, is licensed in California, and is adept at court hearings and motion practice. Additional licensing in Oregon and Washington is advantageous. Candidates with at least two years of experience in eviction law or related fields are encouraged to apply.

Duties

  • Handle all aspects of eviction cases in California, and possibly Oregon and Washington.
  • Attend court hearings and prepare necessary documentation for eviction cases.
  • Draft civil litigation documents, including discovery and dispositive motions.
  • Provide expertise in Rent Control and Just Cause Ordinances.
  • Communicate directly with clients and manage caseloads effectively.
  • Write, review, and edit reports and client correspondence.

Requirements

  • Active membership in the CA State Bar; OR and WA Bar memberships are a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in landlord/tenant evictions or related fields.
  • Strong writing skills and ability to draft legal documents.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal research tools like WestLaw or LexisNexis.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the California State Bar.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in internet research and legal databases.
