Job Overview
A dynamic in-house litigation group supporting a diverse portfolio of businesses across the food, beverage, agriculture, and consumer goods industries is seeking a Litigation Counsel with 3–6 years of experience. This role involves handling a broad range of complex litigation matters, including commercial, regulatory, and employment disputes, from inception to resolution. The position offers a hybrid schedule and the unique opportunity to act as a strategic legal advisor within a collaborative, business-oriented environment—without billable hour pressures or client development demands.

Duties

  • Manage and litigate commercial, regulatory, and employment matters independently or with minimal supervision

  • Draft and respond to pleadings, motions, and discovery

  • Conduct witness interviews, investigations, depositions, and mediations

  • First or second chair trials and arbitrations

  • Provide legal counseling to operating companies on a variety of matters, including tort, contract, IP, regulatory compliance, and labor/employment

  • Advise internal clients on legal risks, rights, obligations, and strategic solutions

  • Collaborate across departments and legal functions in a fast-paced, in-house setting

Requirements

  • 3–6 years of litigation experience, preferably from a top-tier U.S. law firm

  • Experience managing matters from pleadings through resolution

  • Strong judgment and ability to work with minimal oversight

  • Familiarity with regulatory and commercial legal issues preferred

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications

  • Member in good standing of the California State Bar

Skills

  • Excellent legal research, analytical, and writing skills

  • Strong verbal communication and advocacy skills

  • Ability to think creatively and provide practical legal advice

  • Detail-oriented, organized, and efficient

  • Fluent Spanish is a plus

  • Comfortable operating in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment
