Job Overview:
A well-established law firm located in Grand Rapids, MI, is seeking an experienced attorney with a strong foundation in business and commercial litigation. This on-site role offers the opportunity to independently lead cases, engage in direct client interaction, and take on first-chair trial responsibilities. The ideal candidate will bring a strategic mindset, effective advocacy skills, and the ability to manage complex litigation matters with minimal oversight.

Duties:

• Lead and manage business and commercial litigation cases from inception through trial

• Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, and prepare briefs and memoranda

• Represent clients in court hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials

• Supervise and collaborate with junior attorneys and legal staff

• Maintain proactive communication with clients, keeping them informed and advised

• Oversee litigation timelines and ensure deadlines are met without compromising quality

• Participate in client development initiatives and support the firm’s business growth goals

Requirements:

• Minimum of 8-10 years of direct experience in business and commercial litigation

• Proven success handling cases independently, including first-chair trial experience

• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple case files efficiently

• Track record of client development or contribution to firm revenue

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active license to practice law in the State of Michigan (in good standing)
