Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join its growing Elder Law practice. This hybrid position requires a candidate with 1-3 years of experience in elder law, including work with guardianships, estate administration, Medicaid planning, and related legal matters. The role offers opportunities for professional growth, mentorship, and a clear path for advancement within the firm.

Location:
Chicago, IL

Duties:

  • Represent guardians in adult guardianship proceedings

  • Represent executors in decedent’s estates

  • Prepare and process Medicaid applications, appeals, and redeterminations

  • Administer Powers of Attorney, revocable living trusts, and special needs trusts

  • Draft estate planning and Medicaid planning documents

  • Collaborate with a team of attorneys and clients to address elder law matters

  • Participate in professional development and continuing education opportunities

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of experience in elder law

  • Licensed to practice law in Illinois

  • Strong communication and analytical skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills

  • Strong client interaction skills

Education:

  • J.D. (Doctor of Jurisprudence) from an ABA-accredited law school

  • Illinois State Bar membership

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Illinois

Skills:

  • Elder law practice

  • Guardianship and estate administration

  • Medicaid planning and applications

  • Drafting legal documents (Powers of Attorney, trusts, etc.)

  • Communication and client relationship management
