Job Overview

A law firm seeks a mid-level Corporate Environmental Associate to join its practice group in Washington, D.C. The role focuses on supporting corporate, finance, and real estate transactions, offering an opportunity to engage in meaningful work and career growth.

Duties

  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support transaction preparation and strategy.
  • Draft well-reasoned legal documents, including memos, contracts, and correspondence.
  • Assist in managing complex transactions from inception to resolution.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships by providing timely support and advice.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative transaction strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with legal standards and stay updated on legal precedents.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities.
  • Engage in firm programs, civic organizations, and pro bono work.

Requirements

  • Strong background in environmental law related to corporate, finance, and real estate transactions.
  • Experience advising on environmental matters in mergers, acquisitions, and financing transactions.
  • Familiarity with federal and state environmental statutes and regulations.
  • Experience with environmental disclosure obligations in SEC filings.
  • Ability to support brownfield redevelopment and environmental risk management.
  • Experience coordinating with EPA and state environmental agencies is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, drafting, and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and sound business judgment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently on sophisticated matters.

Education

  • JD degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admitted to practice in the state of Washington, D.C.
