Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney in Los Angeles, CA. The role involves managing litigation portfolios under senior attorney supervision, providing legal counsel, and advocating for clients. Responsibilities include drafting legal documents, conducting research, appearing in court, and collaborating with support staff to advance client interests.

Duties

  • Manage civil litigation phases from pleadings to settlement.
  • Appear in court, depositions, and mediations.
  • Develop case strategies and maintain client communication.
  • Handle a caseload of 30+ cases under managing attorney guidance.
  • Conduct legal research using LexisNexis and other resources.
  • Draft reports, stipulations, and mediation briefs.
  • Coordinate with paralegals and support staff for file management.
  • Mentor clerks and provide feedback on legal techniques.
  • Participate in firm-wide initiatives and special projects.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the California State Bar.
  • 3 - 5 years of relevant litigation experience in a law firm.
  • Experience in employment law, class actions, and/or PAGA Actions is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and legal research platforms.
  • Strong drafting, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.

Education

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the California State Bar.

Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and PDF software.
  • Experience with legal research platforms.
  • Familiarity with case management systems (e.g., FileVine), and Document Generation is desired.
  • Strong drafting and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
