A law firm seeks a Patent Associate for its Intellectual Property Practice Group in Austin, TX. Duties

  • Support the IP Practice in strategic development and procurement of patent portfolios.
  • Draft patent applications in computer arts, including software, AI/ML, FinTech, and telecommunications.
  • Prosecute patent applications effectively.
  • Provide counseling on patent portfolios.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Strong writing and analytical skills.
  • Comfortable working directly with clients.

Education

  • Degree or advanced degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science preferred.
  • Degrees in mechanical engineering or relevant experience considered.

Certifications

  • Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Skills

  • Experience drafting complex software patent applications.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
