Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Tax Associate for their New Orleans, Baton Rouge, or Houston office. This role involves advising clients on international, federal, state, and local tax issues, corporate formation, acquisitions, mergers, and restructurings. The associate will also assist in teaching law school classes and presenting at tax conferences.

Duties

  • Advise clients on tax implications and transactional needs.
  • Assist with federal tax audits and administrative appeals.
  • Manage interactions with state and local taxing authorities.
  • Collaborate with a partner on teaching and writing for professional publications.
  • Present at tax conferences qualifying for CLE/CPE.

Requirements

  • J.D. and LL.M. in Taxation required.
  • Willing to take LA bar if licensed outside of LA.
  • LL.M. from NYU, Georgetown, or Northwestern preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong work ethic.
  • Proven business development track record.
  • Superior academic credentials.
  • Impeccable research and writing skills.
  • Publication credits and teaching experience required.
  • Experience with international tax issues required.

Education

  • J.D. and LL.M. in Taxation.

Certifications

  • Bar admission in relevant jurisdiction.
