A law firm seeks a National Coverage Attorney in Los Angeles, CA, to manage high-level insurance coverage matters across multiple jurisdictions. This role involves providing sophisticated coverage analysis, drafting key legal documents, and serving as monitoring counsel on complex claims. The attorney will collaborate with clients and colleagues in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.

Duties

  • Provide insurance coverage advice on General Liability, Excess, Reinsurance, and Commercial First-Party claims.
  • Draft coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, and coverage position letters.
  • Handle declaratory judgment and coverage litigation from pleadings through trial or arbitration.
  • Act as monitoring counsel on complex, high-value claims.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop strategic recommendations and risk assessments.
  • Stay current on evolving case law and trends in insurance coverage.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school; active license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 4-15 years of experience as a coverage attorney in a law firm or insurance company setting.
  • Expertise in GL, Excess, Reinsurance, and Commercial First-Party coverage.
  • Strong writing and analytical skills with demonstrated success in litigation and advisory work.
  • Arbitration and/or trial experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced national practice.

Education

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
