Job Overview

A law firm seeks a skilled Personal Injury Lawyer in Columbus, OH, to join their team and assist clients in obtaining justice and compensation for their injuries. The ideal candidate will manage case files from start to finish and possess a passion for helping people, with at least one year of experience in personal injury litigation and trial cases preferred.

Duties

  • Manage a full caseload of pre-litigation and litigation personal injury matters.
  • Conduct client intakes and maintain regular client communication.
  • Draft and review demand letters, pleadings, and settlement agreements.
  • Analyze medical records and prepare case summaries.
  • Negotiate settlements with insurance adjusters and opposing counsel.
  • Represent clients in mediations, depositions, and court hearings as needed.
  • Ensure cases move forward efficiently and comply with applicable deadlines.
  • Converse with clients, expert witnesses, and insurance adjusters to gather information.
  • Investigate potential personal injury claims and provide legal advice to prospective clients.
  • Appear as legal counsel on clients' behalf at mediations, trials, hearings, and depositions.

Requirements

  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Ohio (required).
  • Licensed in Tennessee and/or Indiana (preferred).
  • 1+ year of experience in personal injury law preferred, but not required.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficient in legal case management software and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of personal injury law, medical terminology, wrongful death, civil and family law, and medical malpractice is vital.
  • Membership in the State Bar Association and a state license to practice law is mandatory.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • State Bar Association membership.

Skills

  • Excellent negotiation, drafting, research, and communication skills.
