Duties

• Draft and argue motions and pleadings in civil litigation matters

• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda and briefs

• Participate in discovery, including depositions and interrogatories

• Assist in developing litigation strategies under the supervision of senior attorneys

• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel

• Prepare for and assist in hearings and trials

• Maintain accurate and organized case files

Requirements

• Entry-level attorneys must have strong academic performance and legal writing ability

• Attorneys with 3–4 years of experience should demonstrate:

  • Substantial motion practice experience

  • Experience taking and defending depositions

  • Effective case management skills

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based legal setting

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan or actively pursuing licensure
