Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is seeking a midlevel Associate Attorney to join its Data Privacy and Cybersecurity practice group. This role is best suited for a legal professional with at least two years of experience advising on data privacy laws and managing breach response matters. The ideal candidate is academically accomplished, technologically adept, and possesses the communication and collaboration skills necessary to thrive in a fast-paced legal environment.

Location:

  • Columbus, OH

Duties:

  • Advise clients on data breach response, including regulatory compliance and notification obligations

  • Counsel on data privacy matters, including drafting and reviewing privacy policies and contracts

  • Interpret and apply relevant state, federal, and international privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA)

  • Assist clients with incident response planning and risk management strategies

  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on privacy and cybersecurity issues

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure legal compliance and best practices

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in data privacy and cybersecurity law

  • Prior experience handling data breach incidents

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • High degree of professional judgment and discretion

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license and good standing with at least one U.S. state bar

Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of data protection frameworks (CCPA, GDPR, HIPAA, GLBA, etc.)

  • Legal drafting and analysis expertise

  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities

  • Ability to synthesize complex legal and technical information

  • Client-service oriented with attention to detail
