Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Trusts and Estates Attorney/Partner with a portable book of business to join their practice group in Southeast Michigan, including Detroit, Macomb, and Bloomfield Hills. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in estate planning and trust management, providing tailored solutions to clients.

Duties

• Develop comprehensive estate plans tailored to clients' specific needs and goals.
• Advise clients on tax implications and strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
• Handle the probate process, including court proceedings and asset distribution.
• Manage and administer trusts in compliance with applicable laws.
• Identify and pursue business development opportunities with prospective clients.

Requirements

• Strong foundation in estate planning, tax law, probate law, and trust law.
• Experience assisting high net worth families and individuals.
• Proficiency in estate and gift tax complex planning.
• Experience in succession planning and fiduciary accounting.
• Excellent communication skills for explaining complex legal concepts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Precision in drafting legal documents.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information discreetly.

Education

• Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the state of Michigan.

Skills

• 10+ years of experience in estate planning and related tax matters.
