Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Litigation Associate to join its office in Austin, TX. The firm specializes in trademark and copyright law, representing clients in various industries. The role involves working on litigation and U.S. Patent and Trademark Office proceedings, with a focus on trademark and copyright matters.

Duties

  • Assist with and lead aspects of U.S. trademark and copyright litigation, including pleadings, discovery, and trial.
  • Handle Trademark Trial and Appeal Board proceedings, including oppositions and cancellations.
  • Draft pleadings and motions, conduct legal research, and assist with case strategy.
  • Manage document collection, review, and production.
  • Manage written discovery requests and responses.
  • Assist with depositions and deposition preparation.
  • Interface directly with clients, providing practical and business-minded advice.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school with an active Texas state bar license.
  • 3-5 years of civil litigation experience within a law firm setting, including federal civil litigation experience.
  • Experience in trademark or copyright litigation is a plus.
  • Excellent writing, research, and case management skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects.
  • Must be located within commuting distance of Austin, TX, or willing to relocate.

Education

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.

  • Active Texas state bar license.
