Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A national law firm with a strong presence in Chicago is seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney with 1–5 years of experience in private practice. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex commercial litigation matters with a focus on contract disputes, regulatory issues, and business-related litigation. Attorneys will handle various aspects of litigation, including depositions, motion practice, court appearances, and contract reviews. Experience or interest in transportation and logistics law is a plus. Some travel may be required.

Location:

Duties:

• Handle commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution

• Draft legal briefs, motions, memoranda, and pleadings

• Conduct and defend depositions

• Represent clients in court hearings and related proceedings

• Review and analyze contracts and legal documents

• Collaborate with partners and legal staff on case strategy

• Provide legal counsel to clients in the transportation, logistics, and related industries

• Maintain organized case files and communicate case updates to clients

Requirements:

• 1–5 years of experience in private or public practice

• Prior experience in commercial litigation strongly preferred

• Willingness to travel for client meetings, depositions, or hearings

• Ability to manage multiple cases and meet strict deadlines

• Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative approach

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active member of the state bar (Illinois)

Skills:

• Excellent legal research and writing capabilities

• Strong oral advocacy and courtroom presentation skills

• Contract analysis and drafting experience

• High level of attention to detail and organizational efficiency

• Proficient with legal technology tools and case management systems

• Team-oriented with the ability to work independently when necessary
